NOT SO FUNNY OF THE DAY!

Interesting facts about Chicago, you go Obama! Show us how you do it!
  • State pension fund $44 Billion in debt, worst in country.
  • Cook County ( Chicago ) sales tax 10.25% highest in country. (Look 'em up if you want).
  • Chicago school system one of the worst in country.

This is the political culture that Obama comes from in Illinois . And he's gonna 'fix' Washington politics?

FUNNY OF THE DAY

****Warning from Pakistan****
This morning, from a cave somewhere in Pakistan, Taliban Minister of Migration,
Mohammed Omar, warned the United States that if military action against Iraq continues,
Taliban authorities will cut off America's supply of convenience store managers and possibly candidates for President of the United States And if this action does not yield sufficient results cab drivers will be next, followed by Dell and AOL customer service reps, and then Motel 6 managers.
(dont bother sending me the hate mail, you laughed and you know it!)

THIS IS WHY I HATE CABLE COMPANIES!

FCC Votes 3-2 Against Comcast By FAWN JOHNSONAugust 1, 2008 12:14 p.m. The Federal Communications Commission on Friday voted 3-2 to cite Comcast Corp. for throttling Internet traffic to customers who use high-bandwidth file-sharing services. FCC Chairman Kevin Martin wants the reprimand to set a precedent for how Internet providers can control the flow of Web traffic to consumers. Comcast, for its part, is reviewing its legal options. The cable giant believes it shouldn't be punished for actions that the FCC hasn't addressed through formal rules. At an FCC meeting on the Comcast reprimand, Mr. Martin had harsh words for Comcast. "Comcast was delaying subscribers' downloads and blocking their uploads. It was doing so 24/7, regardless of the amount of congestion on the network or how small the file might be," Mr. Martin said. "Even worse, Comcast was hiding that fact by making affected users think there was a problem with their Internet connection or the application. Today, the commission tells Comcast to stop." Free Press, an open-Internet advocacy group, accused Comcast of slowing peer-to-peer file sharing applications such as BitTorrent. The FCC order said Comcast's action isn't a reasonable network management practice and violates its Internet policies. The FCC found that Comcast selectively discriminated against certain video applications, rather than treating them equally. The actions significantly impeded customers' ability to access content, the FCC said. The FCC's order will require Internet service providers to disclose their network-management techniques to consumers and regulators. The reprimand of Comcast is intended to send a signal to providers that they can't single out individual applications for delays to relieve Internet congestion. Comcast is experimenting with a new method of managing Internet traffic that will prioritize users' traffic based on the amount of bandwidth they are using during congested times. The system is "protocol agnostic," meaning it won't make traffic determinations based on specific applications. The two Democrats on the five-member commission, Michael Copps and Jonathan Adelstein, joined with Mr. Martin in the enforcement order. "This is a landmark decision for the FCC, a meaningful stride forward on the road to guaranteed openness of the Internet," said Mr. Copps. Republican Commissioners Deborah Taylor Tate and Robert McDowell both voted against the order, saying the FCC's punishment goes too far. "The best way to fulfill our duties under the Internet policy statement would be to assume the role of a mediator or an arbitrator," Ms. Tate said. Mr. McDowell said the FCC should have written a rule first. "In short, we have no rules to enforce. This matter would have had a better chance at appeal if we had put the horse before the cart," he said. Mr. McDowell also said the FCC's citation is based on thin evidence. "The truth is the FCC doesn't know what Comcast did and did not do," he said, noting that the commission is relying on data presented by a handful of consumers who represent the plaintiffs. "The rest of the record... consists purely of differing opinions and conjecture," Mr. McDowell said. Mr. Martin responded that the FCC conducted an exhaustive review of some 6,500 comments filed in the case. Consumer advocates who identified and complained about the Comcast issue said the FCC's reprimand shows regulators' willingness to act when consumers are harmed. "What we wanted in general is to protect an open Internet through laws, through enforcement orders, through rules," said Free Press General Counsel Marvin Ammori, who authored the FCC complaint against Comcast. "What the commission is giving us is a precedent setting order. ...This is a major, major decision in the history of the Internet," Mr. Ammori said. "It has shown that it will actually act when there's a violation." Comcast spokeswoman Sena Fitzmaurice said the cable company is heartened that the FCC didn't slap it with a fine. But, she added, "We are disappointed in the commission's divided conclusion because we believe that our network management choices were reasonable, wholly consistent with industry practices and that we did not block access to Web sites or online applications, including peer-to-peer services."

THANK YOU REG.....

I RECEIVED THIS FROM ONE OF MY FAVORITE AUNTS, REGINA.
I HAD TO POST THIS BECAUSE IN 2008 THIS IS 100% COMPLETELY TRUE! NOAH In the year 2008, the Lord came unto Noah, who was now living in the United States , and said: Once again, the earth has become wicked and over-populated, and I see the end of all flesh before me.Build another Ark and save 2 of every living thing along with a few good humans. He gave Noah the blueprints, saying: You have 6 months to build the Ark before I will start the unending rain for 40 days and 40 nights.Six months later, the Lord looked down and saw Noah weeping in his yard - but no Ark.Noah! He roared, I'm about to start the rain! Where is the Ark ?Forgive me, Lord, begged Noah, 'but things have changed. I needed a building permit. I've been arguing with the inspector about the need for a sprinkler system. My neighbors claim that I've violated the neighborhood zoning laws by building the Ark in my yard and exceeding the height limitations. We had to go to the Development Appeal Board for a decision. Then the Department of Transportation demanded a bond be posted for the future costs of moving power lines and other overhead obstructions, to clear the passage for the Ark 's move to the sea. I told them that the sea would be coming to us, but they would hear nothing of it. Getting the wood was another problem. There's a ban on cutting local trees in order to save the spotted owl.I tried to convince the environmentalists that I needed the wood to save the owls - but no go! When I started gathering the animals, an animal rights group sued me. They insisted that I was confining wild animals against their will. They argued the accommodations were too restrictive, and it was cruel and inhumane to put so many animals in a confined space. Then the EPA ruled that I couldn't build the Ark until they'd conducted an environmental impact study on your proposed flood. I'm still trying to resolve a complaint with the Human Rights Commission on how many minorities I'm supposed to hire for my building crew. Immigration and Naturalization are checking the green-card status of most of the people who want to work. The trades unions say I can't use my sons. They insist I have to hire only Union workers with Ark-building experience. To make matters worse, the IRS seized all my assets, claiming I'm trying to leave the country illegally with endangered species. So, forgive me, Lord, but it would take at least 10 years for me to finish this Ark. Suddenly the skies cleared, the sun began to shine, and a rainbow stretched across the sky.Noah looked up in wonder and asked,'You mean you're not going to destroy the world?' 'No,' said the Lord.'The government beat me to it.

GAS

George Carlin's Solution to Save Gasoline : Bush wants us to cut the amount of gas we use..... The best way to stop using so much gas is to deport 11 million illegal immigrants! That would be 11 million less people using our gas. The price of gas would come down..... Bring our troops home from Iraq to guard the Border.... When they catch an illegal immigrant crossing the border, hand him a canteen, rifle and some ammo and ship him toIraq .. Tell him if he wants to come to America then he must serve a tour in the military.... Give him a soldier's pay while he's there and tax him on it..... After his tour, he will be allowed to become a citizen since he defended this country..... He will also be registered to be taxed and be a legal patriot..... . This option will probably deter illegal immigration and provide a solution for the troops in Iraq and the aliens trying to make a better life for themselves.. .... If they refuse to serve, ship them to Iraq anyway, without the canteen, rifle or ammo.... Problem solved.....

ALMOST FORGOT TO SHARE!

So many (3) of you have been begging to know what it was Dad and I went to Chehalis to get a few weeks back?????
Well it was in fact NOT a VW, it was a 1988 Ford Ranger.
Now with that being said I have sold the RED Bug, and am trying like MAD to get rid of the Squareback I picked up for FREE! My intent was to use the Ranger as my main mode of transpo but after much though I decided this was not the one for me, So Dad took it off of my hands and YES he is currently working on it to make it a driver for Him.....(hard to believe I know!)
So currently I am driving Old Blue! (dad's big blue dodge van) I will let all (3) of you know when I get something more permanent. So far my thoughts are a Ford Bronco II or a Karmen Ghia?
You tell me?

Really? Do you really belive this?

So with the NON STOP gas prices going to who the hell knows where and our beloved Government finds it unnecessary to step in????
Uh ever heard of price goudging? Do you see the Telecomms trying to charge $800 a month for DSL??? Dont think so!
Anyway Kristine and I are always looking at different cars and anyone who knows me knows how damn addicted I am to Craigslist! (I wonder if the TV Show intervention would take me on as a case subject??)
So I found what looked like one of those too good to be true adds, well you be the judge?
2004 Honda Accord EX 2 dr fully loaded with Leather,........
2900.00
(yes, two thousand....nine hundred!)
this thing looked like it was brand new in the pictures posted! Here is an exchange of Emails after I had inquired about the car!
"From: leslie paltrow [mailto:lesliepaltrow@gmail.com] Sent: Tuesday, June 03, 2008 6:31 AMTo: Michael PaulsenSubject: RE : 2004 Honda Accord EX -- Hi,First of all I want to thank you for your interest for my car. I sell at this price($2,900.00 USD) because i just finished the divorce with my husband. When the divorce has finished i own this car. Now as a women i don't need. The car is in excellent working conditions, no scratches, flaws or any kind of damage, slightly used in 100% working and looking conditions and comes with a clear title. From the beginning you have to know that for the payment I request only secure pay, I prefer the payment to be done using eBay services. We will use a safe payment method because I am affiliated at eBay and I have a purchase protection account for $20.000.The final price that I want for this car is $2,900.00 USD including shipping and handling. If you are interested in buying it please provide me your full name and address so I can initiate the deal through eBay.I will wait your answer very soon.Regards,Leslie Paltrow "
On 6/3/08, Michael Paulsen <mpaulsen@molalla.com> wrote: If you are local we do not need to go through Ebay, I can pay you cash in person. Let me know when and where I may be able to see the Honda? Mike
I'm sorry to disappoint you but the car is already at the shipping company in Manhattan, New Yorksealed and ready for the shipping. I have a contract with eBay so this deal must go through them. I'm very busy with my job and I'm getting off the town so I can't meet in person with you so this is the reason why I chose to sell my car over the internet. According with the eBay you have 5 days from the time you receive the car to inspect it and decide if you want to keep it or not.If you want to buy it please email me your full name and address for shipping so I can initiate the transaction through eBay. After that they will contact you for all necessary information about this transaction(terms, buyer protection, payment instructions, invoice, etc.) Thank you

Branching out.

In my continuing effort to own at least one of every early Volkswagen ever made I am now the proud owner of a 1973 Squareback. I was lucky enough to pick this one up for free, the owner had it sitting on his property in Molalla for the past 15 years. He was actually about to call a scrap yard and have it hauled away. I will post pictures soon.
VOLKSWAGEN,
